In order to provide quality secondary education to the children from low-income migrant families, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Dandelion Project jointly set up a non-profit education institute named Dandelion School in Daxing District, Beijing. It is the first and the only school of its kind.

To support this good cause, CICC donated US$20,000 in 2005 to fund a teacher training program of the school, and would contribute US$20,000 every subsequent year to support the program’s further development. The first CICC Teacher Awards were announced in September of 2006.
