CICC Donated RMB 300,000 To Support The Drought Relief In Inner Mongolia
Since the spring of 2007, Xilin Gol Grassland and Hulun Buir Grassland in Inner Mongolia suffered a severe drought. To help the drought areas, CICC actively joined the "Fund Raising for Drought Relief” activity organized by the Social Work Association of Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, and donated RMB 300,000 to the disaster areas.
Background Information:
Due to abnormal climate changes, natural disasters and improper reclamation, the desertification of grasslands in Inner Mongolia speeded up astonishingly. Since spring of 2007, Xilin Gol Grassland of Inner Mongolia, closely relevant to the environment and climate of Beijing, suffered a severe drought。 Since June of 2007, the continuous high temperature without rain caused the lack of drinking water for farmers and livestock.
To raise funds for the relief of drought-plagued Xilinguole Meng, to call on the close attention to the grassland ecologies and drought relief, and to strengthen the awareness of grassland and environmental protection, China Social Work Association organized a charity performance activity called "Retaining the Green ", and all donation would be used for the disaster relief.
