CICC was honored with an award for Special Contribution to the “Small Package, Great Love” Project in 2011 by China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.

At the end of 2011, the CICC called upon members of Charity Team to participate in the “Small Package, Great Love” Project. As many as 105 employees subscribed 818 packages, equivalently RMB 163,600.  These packages were then delivered to 818 primary school students in the poverty-stricken area of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Thanks to such packages, students were able to have down coats, scarves, gloves, socks, knee pads and cushion to weather challenges in the winter.

Background:

Founded in 1989, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation is a national charity organization devoted to poverty alleviation which is registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs.  Its founding principles are to help the poor in the underdeveloped communities to enhance their capacity of self-development, to improve basic production conditions and primary social service level, to facilitate alleviating poverty of the recipients and promote the recipients' self-independence, to deliver love and charity and to promote harmony and humanitarian spirit.  By the end of 2011, donations with a total worth of RMB 5.472 billion had been raised and used in poverty relief works, benefiting 13.1041 million poor people and victims of natural calamities.
