In order to improve the educational conditions in underprivilaged areas and implement the public welfare concept of "poverty alleviation by helping people acquire knowledge", CICC Charity Foundation donated 378 sets of school uniforms to Maxat Primary School in Suntag Township, Atux Shi City, Xinjiang before Children's Day 2018, and renovated the canteen, reconstructed the playground, and donated desks and chairs before the start of the new semester on September 1. All these donations amounted to around RMB 280,000.
At the end of 2019, the Foundation and the Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Party Branches of CICC jointly launched an initiative, calling on company employees, especially party members, to donate RMB 1,000 each year to each of the 208 underprivilaged students in Maxat Primary School to help them complete their studies. This public welfare activity was carried out jointly with Xinjiang Finance Bureau and the Party Committee of Maxat Primary School. After the initial fund raising, the Foundation formulated the "Administrative Measures for the Scholarship Project" following a thorough discussion on the specific methods and work processes. The project aims to encourage and help underprivilaged students who are striving for self-improvement and working hard under difficult circumstances to complete their studies.
At the beginning of 2020, a bursary of RMB 208,000 donated by CICC employees, was distributed by Maxat Primary School. With grateful hearts, the students who received aid sent thank-you letters to the sponsors to tell them about their learning progress.
