CICC Attends The Astana Finance Day And Astana International Forum
On the 7th and 8-9th June 2023, CICC delegation led by Barry Chan, Head of Investment Banking, Hong Kong, CICC and Head of Asia Australia region, CICCI, attended the Astana Finance Day (AFD) and Astana International Forum (AIF) respectively, in the capital city of Kazakhstan.
AFD, organized by the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), is one of the largest financial industry events in the country. CICC has been a supporter of AFD since 2018 and a content contributor to the panel discussion at AFD.
Barry was invited as one of the panel speakers to share his views at the “Structuring Deals in the AIFC” session this year, discussed the benefits of dual listing and mutual market access applying the Stock Connect program in Hong Kong as an example.
AIF, organized by the Government of Kazakhstan, is a high-level platform that brings together Eurasian and global leaders to discuss key development issues. This year is the inaugural edition of AIF and has welcomed more than 1,000 delegates from over 100 countries, including government officials, diplomatic representatives, international organizations, companies and industry experts.
President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, addressed at the plenary session of AIF, attended by heads of state and government, such as Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh, and executives of international organizations.
CICC representatives had exchanged with other delegates during the two-day event.
Minister Alibek Kuantyrov with National Economy of Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman Kanat Sharlapaev with Baiterek welcomed Barry Chan, Dr. Yang Zhao and Wei Xia on behalf of CICC.
Invited by Baiterek, Barry Chan gave a speech on “Eurasia: Paving the Way for Sustainable Development”.
Dr. Yang Zhao also joined the panel discussion on “The Middle Corridor: Strengthening the Eurasian Connectivity”.
