10th Asian Financial Forum Opens in Hong Kong; CICC Chairman Ding Xuedong Delivers Remarks

The 10th Asian Financial Forum (AFF), co-organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), was held on 16 & 17 January, 2017 in Hong Kong. China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC, 3908.HK) acted as the sole sponsor for the Keynote Luncheon of the Forum.

Ding Xuedong, Chairman of CICC, said in the opening remarks at the Luncheon that the world was full of uncertainties in both the past year and 2017. But he emphasized that there would be lots of certainties, too - even more certainties than uncertainties - in 2017 and beyond. For example, he pointed out, it was widely predicted that the US economic growth would accelerate, the European economy may still maintain a growth rate of 1% -1.5%, and China would achieve an around 6.5% GDP growth, etc.

Mr. Ding also gave an introduction to CICC and his agenda as Chairman in the bank. He said that CICC, which was established 21 years ago, is an investment bank rooted in China. Since assuming the post, he had pushed forward with three initiatives to help the company keep pace with the international capital markets: first, the listing of CICC in Hong Kong; second, the integration of CICC and China Investment Securities Company Limited (CISC); and third, seeking opportunities to deepen cooperation with prestigious international institutions.

Launched in 2007, the AFF brings together some of the most influential members of the global financial and business community to discuss developments and trends in the dynamic markets of Asia. As of this year, CICC has sponsored the Keynote Luncheon for fifth times. In his speech, Mr. Ding extended his gratitude to the forum organizers for granting CICC sponsorship opportunities and committed continued support for the forum. He wished the AFF a better tomorrow and an increasing influence in the global arena.
