CICC Announces Introduction of Tencent as a Strategic Investor

(Beijing, September 20, 2017)China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC, 3908.HK) announced today that Tencent Holdings Limited (Tencent, 700.HK) entered into a subscription agreement with CICC to subscribe for approximately 207.5 million new H Shares of CICC, representing 12.01% and 4.95% of the total issued H shares and the total issued shares of CICC on a fully diluted basis. The completion of the subscription is subject to approvals by relevant regulatory authorities.

Simultaneously, CICC and Tencent also entered into a strategic cooperation framework agreement. Taking into account the respective leading positions of the two parties in their industries, CICC and Tencent have decided to pursue strategic cooperation in the area of financial services. To promote the effective implementation of such cooperation, CICC and Tencent will set up a Steering Committee co-chaired by the senior management of both companies.

Mr. Bi Mingjian, CEO of CICC, said that “CICC is pleased to introduce Tencent, a leading Internet player in China, as our strategic investor. The cooperation is expected to enable CICC to better leverage FinTech to accelerate the transformation of our wealth management platform and provide more differentiated financial solutions to our clients.”
