Xinhan Xia, CEO of CICC UK, said, “We are extremely pleased to become a member of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, after becoming the first Chinese member firm of the SIX Swiss Exchange on 9 June 2022. We are now the first Chinese firm to be a member of all stock exchanges covered by the stock connect programme connecting China and Europe. This is yet another key milestone on CICC’s ongoing journey of internationalisation. CICC will be able to provide clients with comprehensive cross-border services, and to lead the participation in the stock connect schemes between the capital markets of China and Europe.”
CICC UK was established in 2009 and is regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority. It provides a central platform from which CICC facilitates cross-border investment and financing services for an increasing number of clients from Europe, the Middle East and Africa that do business with China, and from China seeking cross-border investments in and financing from these regions.
The Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse) is one of the world’s most important trading centres for securities. With 90 per cent of its turnover generated in Germany, namely at the two trading venues Xetra and Börse Frankfurt, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange is the nucleus of the Deutsche Börse Group. The prices on Xetra serve as the basis for calculating DAX, the best-known German share index, and Xetra has 60 per cent market share throughout Europe. Over 200 trading participants from 16 European countries, plus Hong Kong, China and the United Arab Emirates, are connected via Xetra servers in Frankfurt.
In the future, CICC will further deepen its international strategy and continue to provide outstanding global capital market services to clients with its extensive capital market experience and collaborative capabilities in both domestic and international business, promote cross-border and international transactions, and commit to providing high-quality financial services to clients in the international capital market and play a leading role in cross-border capital flows.
