CICC Attends the Fifth Astana Finance Days and Becomes the Initial Member of “BRI Investment Council”

Astana International Financial Center ("AIFC") hosted the fifth annual Astana Finance Days (“AFD”) conference on 27-29 June, 2022 in Nur-sultan, Kazakhstan to attract quality investment opportunities, discuss key business issues, and build an effective solution with global participants. Under the overarching theme “Sustainability, Social Responsibility, Growth” AFD 2022 featured discussions on a range of events. 

CICC was cordially invited to moderate and participate in the “Belt & Road Initiative Session”. As a token of commitment and mutual trust in the Belt & Road Initiative, AIFC has launched “BRI Investment Council” to provide guidance in future prospects. Dr. Chu Gang, Chief Operating Officer represented CICC as an initial member. Dr. Chu stated: “CICC has always been an active player in Kazakhstan, especially in the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative. We are proud to be the first international trading and clearing member and GDR market maker of AIX. Today, I am honoured to represent CICC and join as the initial member of the BRI Investment Council to further strengthen the connection between Kazakhstan and China.”

During the “Belt & Road Initiative Session”, Mr. Barry Chan, Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking HK and Head of Asia-Australia Region hosted the full session including roundtable discussion. Mr. Daming Cheng, Managing Director, Member of Investment Banking Business Development Committee, joined the roundtable discussion and delivered a speech. Mr. Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of AIFC, attended this session and delivered keynote speech.
